The battle for the future of Earth comes back to the arcade with Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye by Stern Pinball. This listing is for the Premium model.

Whether you grew up in the ’80s playing with Transformers toys, watching the cartoons on Saturday morning, or you came by it later, Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye has everything that a true fan would hope for in a pinball machine. This puts you into a human support role to assist the righteous Autobots as they do battle with the evil Decepticons, who are bent on stealing Earth’s energy resources to move onto conquering the universe. This plays out with the leaders of each faction being represented at the top of the machine, with a big Optimus Prime bash toy on the left, animatronic Megatron sculpted toy on the right.

Hitting Megatron will start one of the missions, which are based on stories from the cartoon. This also leads to a “Celebratory Mode,” celebrating the 40th anniversary of Transformers movie. Who better to bring you into that world than both Peter Cullen (Optimus Prime) and Frank Welker (Megatron, Soundwave), who provide specially recorded lines?

Thanks to Stern’s SPIKE-3 hardware and Insider Connected app, players are further able to dive into the Transformers world. The game introduces Cyber Coins, which can be collected by using the app, which will unlock special game modes, including a training mode that helps players better learn how to play, and a unique 1v1 “split flipper” competition mode for two players, where they compete on the machine at the same time – one player using the left flipper(representing Optimus Prime), the other the right (for Megatron).

The Premium version of the game offers an enhanced experience that includes a couple of special mechanical features that are not found on the Pro model. The basics are still there, such as three flippers, the Bumblebee captive ball, a 3-bank drop target, two ramps, RGB LED inserts, an 18″ HD screen that plays remastered clips from the show as well as custom animations, Stern Insider Connected scanner & more. But Premium also includes an animatronic Megatron toy with a ball launcher that will fire a pinball out onto a ramp; a Shockwave ball lock toy that spits locked balls out onto the playfield; and a fully sculpted Grimlock (the dinosaur) toy over on the right.
