Spooky Pinball has officially unveiled Beetlejuice Pinball, their latest licensed machine based on the iconic 1988 Tim Burton film. While the game was revealed just ahead of IAAPA 2025, it did not appear on the show floor, partly because Spooky tends to stick to pinball-focused events, and partly because the machine essentially sold out immediately after announcement. With such limited availability, most players and operators will only get to experience the machine indirectly for now, but early details show a feature-rich, highly themed product built with the same fan-focused approach that defines Spooky’s catalog. Shipping is expected to begin in early 2026.
A Fully Realized Beetlejuice Experience
Beetlejuice Pinball is built as a standard-body machine, but the level of integration pushes far beyond the usual expectations for licensed titles. Thanks to unrestricted access to footage, music, and audio from the film, the game recreates multiple memorable sequences, from being dropped into Saturn to face the sandworm to interacting with Juno or digging up Beetlejuice himself. The machine incorporates the Danny Elfman score, Harry Belafonte’s Day-O, and additional audio pulled straight from the film, all of which help anchor players in the world of the movie.
The design team consisting of Spooky Luke and Corwin “Bug” Emery bring years of Spooky Pinball experience to the table, refining layout, mechanisms, and flow to deliver smooth play with consistently entertaining shot paths. Artist Christopher Franchi contributes an extensive hand-drawn package covering the cabinet, translite, and playfield with bold, stylized interpretations of the film’s characters and settings. Sound designer Brady Hearn and coders Spooky DJ and Casey Butler complete the package with responsive audio work and a fast, humorous ruleset that leans heavily into the chaotic spirit of Beetlejuice’s world.
Innovative Voice-Activated Gameplay
One of the most notable elements of Beetlejuice Pinball is its voice activation system, showcased prominently in the reveal trailer. The machine can respond to specific spoken phrases, making some objectives or features accessible through direct player input instead of traditional button interaction. While Spooky’s machines are typically collector-focused, innovations like this have the potential to influence wider pinball design if they eventually make their way into more broadly available titles. For operators, it suggests exciting new avenues for accessibility and engagement, even though this particular machine’s limited run means many locations will not have the chance to host it.
A Limited-Run Collector Machine
As with most Spooky releases, Beetlejuice Pinball is built in a capped production run, and initial allocation sold out almost immediately after the announcement. That makes this machine more of a premium collector’s piece rather than a widely deployed location game. Still, the attention to detail, expansive feature set, and deep theme integration highlight where boutique designers are pushing the industry, especially when it comes to code, creativity, and audiovisual presentation. For fans of Tim Burton’s film, this is one of the most complete interpretations ever realized in pinball form.
Beetlejuice Pinball represents Spooky’s continued focus on high-effort licensed themes backed by strong mechanical design and extensive audiovisual integration. While the machine won’t be easy to find on location, its commitment to recreating the film’s humor and atmosphere, combined with its new voice activation feature, makes it one of the more notable pinball announcements heading into 2026. As shipping begins next year, collectors who secured a unit will be among the first to explore this elaborate and chaotic tribute to a cult classic.
