New Artegon developer says more than just fun center coming
The former Artegon Marketplace won’t just turn into a family fun center, said one of the partners involved in redeveloping the former mall site on International Drive.
Prime Time Amusements CEO David T. Goldfarb said there are plans to add mixed-use development at the site, but he and majority owner Dezer Development are still formulating a plan for the 104-acre property that includes major tenants Bass Pro Shops and Cinemark Theaters.
Because PrimeTime and Dezer are partners in the Xtreme Action Park in Fort Lauderdale, he said there is confusion that they may try to make a super-sized version of that family fun center in Orlando.
“The fact of the matter is, the building is in excess of 800,000 square feet, and because of that it and its other elements, it holds a huge potential for something that is both bigger and will make an impact in the Orlando market,” Goldfarb said in an email. “I could do an Xtreme, but competing against Disney and Universal is a tall order.”
