Whirl-O-Ball was originally sold in the 1930s and it has been brought back with modern technology by Orbit Games, who is under the same corporate umbrella as American Pinball. While the idea is almost 100 years old, it’s an innovative twist on the typical alley bowler, having moved the targets to the top of a curved ramp instead of at the back with circular guides. Players credit up the machine, then roll the nine balls at the seven lit targets, which are indicated by backlit numbers within the backbox. The balls will go up the ramp and over their respective targets to earn the points. It’s a great game for both kids and adults alike.

Unlike other alley bowlers, Whirl-O-Ball features a 3′ wide playing lane, offering more space for player comfort, and better overall gameplay. Each play offers nine(9) balls, supports 1-6 players (taking turns), features score multiplies and bonus rounds, and there are three built-in mini-games that the operator can set the game to, intended to encourage repeat play. Signage will also be available so that locations can advertise which mini-game (if any) is currently being used. The mini-games unfold using the multi-colored lighting behind each score space, and the 32″ monitor marquee.
