It’s been a long time coming, but Bamco’s 2010 arcade racing game “Dead Heat” is finally getting a sequel. Now, we’ve known about the upcoming “Dead Heat Unleashed” for a couple of weeks now, but those finer details were lacking until the team behind it graced us with more information ahead of the game’s debut at IAAPA 2022. Those details include what the new Dead Heat Unleashed cabinet would look like, coupled with more info about the game itself.
As observed on the game’s official page on Bandai Namco’s website, Dead Heat Unleashed is the following entry into the hit 2010 racing game series, bringing with it a bunch of new content to try and enjoy, such as new vehicles and courses, but while also bringing the fantastic racing gameplay that we all know and love. As such, up to four players will be zipping and zooming across a variety of stages, driving one of ten Japanese cars, and making ample use of mechanics such as the Ultimate Heat gauge, which gives players a significant velocity boost when activated.
Dead Heat Unleashed also boasts eight different realistic courses(over the original’s four), along with a repertoire of ten different vehicles with a variety of color variants for each of them. Moreover, while the cabinet itself is a single-seater, up to four of these can be connected together at any single moment, allowing up to four players to engage in friendly competition. And to seal the deal, each cabinet is also equipped with a camera underneath the marquee, which takes the driver’s picture before the race, so that everyone can clearly see who they’re racing against.
From the official Dead Heat Unleashed page on Bandai Namco’s website:
“The sequel to the 2010 arcade hit, “Dead Heat Unleashed” is an intense new racing game with four new courses, new cars, and an attractive LED lit cabinet that responds to the game, changing lighting patterns during gameplay. Link up to four cabinets to challenge players head-to-head in tight races that are sure to be a dead heat every time! Players charge their ULTIMATE HEAT gauge through aggressive racing and crowding their rivals.
“Once they unleash their ULTIMATE HEAT, players can blast ahead of the competition and propel towards the finish line. Like its predecessor, “Dead Heat Unleashed” features a camera above the screen that allows the player to take a photo before the race. This helps players quickly identify their competition and know exactly who they are battling with for the first-place title.
Choose from one of ten different licenced cars (with all new colour variants) and drive through eight realistic courses depicting famous locations from around the world. Unleash your ultimate driving experience today!”
While information is still relatively sparse, we can’t wait til IAAPA 2022 swings around so that we can see what Bandai Namco has in store for us with Dead Heat Unleashed.
